Survival Packing for Corporate Travel

There's no doubt that flying, or even driving a long way from home for corporate travel can be fatiguing, but it can be even worse if you don't pack appropriately. In order to pack for a business trip, you'll want to consider every item that goes into your suitcase or carry on.

 

Before beginning your packing experience, make yourself a list of all of those items that you consider essential, and then add on those items that may not be essential, but that you'd like to take. It's important to make a list, because otherwise you're bound to forget something, and after all, you need to be calm and cool during a business trip in order for it to be successful.

Section out your packing lists into toiletries, business clothes, casual clothes, and travel items. If you don't section it out, there's a good chance you going to be overloaded in one section and miss items in another.

In your toiletries list, take into consideration whether you doing all carry on, or actually checking baggage. Remember, airport security has become quite inventive as to what you can and cannot take on the plane. You'll need to make sure that you have no large liquid toiletry items coming on the plane itself, but you can usually pack them in checked baggage.

When it comes to your clothing items, remembered minimum amount. In other words, try not to take too many clothes, you're going to be caring your own luggage a certain distance at least, and weight has a bearing on what it cost to fly. If you're going for overnight, make sure your clothes are wrinkle free, and hanging and you're able to pack them in a garment bag. It's best if they're all dry cleaned, ironed, and washed before you go, after all, there's a good chance you won't have time to do laundry or even alert the hotel for laundry services. Make sure that all of your clothing items are interchangeable as far as colors and design. If something happens to one shirt, you want to make sure that you can still wear an outfit.

Make sure you have something for casual wear, after all, as a rule you're not going to wear the same clothes for a business seminar that you may wear for an evening out. These casual clothes can come in handy, even if you're just relaxing around your room doing business reports. Again, try to make sure that they match in fashion and design with the rest of your clothes, after all, worst case scenario, you may be wearing them to business meetings.

Remember, planning is what makes successful corporate travel. Plan your packing ahead of time, make your list, and only pack what you really need on your business trip.
